Gaming in Your Classroom Using ClassCraft

In this training, you'll learn how to set up your classroom to use ClassCraft on a daily basis. You'll move from adding students, walking your students through the first time, using the various Class Tools, and creating Quests. As you learn to use ClassCraft, you'll be able to use it immediately in your classroom at the same time! When questions or problems come up, you'll get immediate assistance. As an added benefit, the training will show you how to integrate ClassCraft into your Google Classroom.

This training is available online at: moodle.techinedonline.com. Here you can move at your own pace to learn the various aspects of ClassCraft. You can also post questions, comments, and suggestions using the forum. You can also schedule individual meeting times using the scheduler on the Moodle. Also available is scheduling a video conference training and in-person training.

Digital Storytelling

As far back as history goes, storytelling has been a method to pass on information from one generation to the next. From pre-historical times to today, stories are a great way to share what you know with others. Students tend to perk up when stories are being told or when they can tell their own stories. In this presentation, you will see various technology tools that can be used for students and yourself to tell a story.

Storytelling doesn't need to be confined to one subject or topic. Storytelling can expand multiple curriculums.  Whether it is about a novel that was read, explaining how to solve a math problem, understanding an aspect of science, or telling a story related to a historical event or character.  A story can help make a connection that other methods may not.

There are a number of online tools, as well as applications, that can be used to allow students to tell their stories.  In this workshop, we will focus on several of these tools, including: 1) ComicLife 3, 2) Pixton Comic Book Maker, and; 3) StoryBoard That. Educators can use storytelling to introduce new ideas or instruct students in a way students might not get elsewhere.  All it takes is a little creativity and some knowledge of the various tools that are out there for you to use. In this workshop, you will see various technology tools that can be used by students, as well as yourself, to tell a story.

*Please note if there is a specific storytelling app that your district/teachers would like to use, please let me know. A specific training on one app of your choicing is available.

Using Glogster in Your Classroom

An opportunity to discover how Glogster can allow your students to create an interactive online poster.  Student glogs can include audio, video, web links, text, images, and special effects that can be shared via Facebook, Twitter, embedding, Edmodo, and various other social networking sites.
In this workshop, you will

• Learn how to set up your account
• Add/import students
• Setup classes
• Create your first glog using all the tools available in Glogster
• Publish your glog

Web Literacy Workshop: Building Web Literacy

An opportunity to discover how web-based resources and collaborations support the implementation of the 2009 Core Curriculum Content Standards and can enhance student motivation and achievement.  In this workshop, educators will be actively engaged in:

• Exploring free and accessible resources for various content areas and grade levels
• Learning how to cultivate successful global online teacher and student collaborations  
• Applying effective search techniques 
• Building resource engines for posting

Getting Started on Moodle: Your Online Classroom   

An online classroom is a great way to engage and energize your students in school and at home. Moodle is the free software that makes this possible. Learn how to create an interesting, interactive environment where resources are shared and students can collaborate. Just think of all the paper you'll save by having digital handouts and having students take quizzes and submit assignments online.  This class will teach you how to set up your Moodle classroom. (You will need to talk to your technology department if your school does not yet use Moodle. This class does not include setting up a Moodle server.)

Moodle Advanced

Take your Moodle site beyond the basics.  In this training, you'll learn how to add more advanced features such as lessons, workshops, adding additional modules and how to make Moodle a more interactive experience for your students.

From Aggregators to Wikis: Web 2.0 Tools

In this workshop, you'll have the opportunity to explore a variety of Web 2.0 tools that you can use in your classroom. You'll learn everything from Aggregators (R.S.S. feeds) to Wikis and everything in-between.  Each participant will have the chance to experiment with these Web 2.0 applications.

Jumping Joomla! Creating a Website in a Hurry!

Have you ever thought about having your own website? Not enough time? Don't know how? This hands-on workshop will walk you through the process ofcreating your own website in a matter of minutes. Once your website has been established, you’ll learn how to use Joomla! to create your own website in just a few steps. The remainder of this workshop will be spent tweaking and adding information to your site. You’ll be amazed how quickly you can establish a website using this open-source program.

Creating Podcasts and Videocasts in the Classroom

Learn how to create podcasts and videocasts for use in your classroom.  You will have the opportunity to create your own podcasts/videocasts as well as your students learning to create their own.

Technology Integration for Elementary Teachers

In this training, you’ll have the opportunity to explore various technology tools that you can utilize to enhance your classroom. You will learn how to create a podcast or videocast, do digital storytelling, use various Web 2.0 tools, and have an iPad classroom. Video cameras, microphones, and an iPad or two will be provided during this training. So come ready to play!
